Elections 2006 | 24 August, 2006 [ 19:56 ]
Peru's Special Electoral Jury in Huacho rejected Kenji Fujimori's application as a candidate for Governor of "Lima Provinces" because he does not reside in this jurisdiction. According to Peru's official identification registry (RENIEC) the son of ex-President Alberto Fujimori lives in San Borja which is a part of Lima city which has its own jurisdiction, not to be confused with the department of Lima.
If the first instance rejection is appealed by Fujimori, the case will go to the National Election Jury for a final decision.
