Peruvian justice authorities are asking Spanish singer Isabel Pantoja to provide additional testimony after being accused of irregularly adopting a Peruvian girl during the Fujimori government.
Anti-corruption prosecuter Jorge Chávez Cotrina will send a request through the Foreign Ministry to judicial authorities in Spain with the purpose of successfully obtaining additional testimony after new evidence surfaced in the case. Spain and Peru have an international judicial collaboration agreement.
Pantoja had already testified earlier to prosecuter Juana Mesa Peña. She is accused of conniving with Vladimiro Montesinos, the corrupt strong man of Alberto Fujimori's government to speed paperwork for the adoption.
Isabel Pantoja is a popular contemporary singer born in Seville. She has released a dozen albums throughout a career spanning many decades. She is known for her distinctive Andalusian style.
