(LIP-wb) -- A university professor from Lima's Universidad Católica has been kidnapped last Friday, September 29, 2006, and is still being held by her captors after 5 days have passed.
Heidi Spitzer Chang (45) went to a video rental store located at the corner of Avenues "28 de Julio" and "Ramón Riveiro" in Lima's Miraflores district when she was abducted.
Spitzer Chang is also the president of a non-profit organization called "
Adulto Feliz", a charity association whose mission is to improve the life quality of Peru's elderly.
According to a report in "90 Segundos", a TV show broadcasted by "Frecuencia Latina", her kidnappers have threatened her family and have already received a ransom of US$ 35,000 as a first payment.
Police investigators said first leads are pointing to a kidnapping gang led by Marco Antonio Quelopana, the ex-right arm of Jhonny Vásquez Carty a.k.a. "La Gata" (The Cat) who sits in prison after his capture on May 31st, 2006.
