(LIP-wb) -- Blocks 3 and 4 of Tacna avenue in Lima, Peru is the scene for the presentation of the world's largest "Turrón de Doña Pepa“, created by a team of Peruvian bakers.
The Municipality of Lima informed in a press release that this traditional Limean candy and hard cake combination has a length of 104 meters (341 ft.) and weighs two thousand kilos (4,400 pounds), making it the largest of its kind ever created.
A turrón is a cake made of flour, butter, sesame, caramel, and anis and is covered with honey fruit and fully decorated with multicolored candies. This dessert was invented by a slave named Josefa Marmanillo "Doña Pepa" who was cured by "The Lord of Miracles". The cake is prepared as a special gift during the month of October.
The participating bakers and wholesellers received a special award for their efforts from the City of Lima.
Limeans are standing in lines all day to catch a piece of the yummy monster.
