Kidnapped Peruvian casino supervisor freed after 26 hours

(LIP-wb) -- For almost 26 hours, a casino supervisor was kidnapped, assaulted and raped by a group of criminals. Twenty-six year old Ana Isabel Hoyos Guerra was found all tied up lying on the ground near the Atocongo bridge in Lima's district Surco.

Before she was released, her kidnappers severely injured her with numerous knife cuts and threatened to kill her.

Ana Isabel was found by patroling watchmen, known in Lima as "serenazgo", who immediately took her to the Angamos hospital.

Her husband, Alejandro Torres Pastor (27), a maintenance technician for brewing company Ambev Peru, believes the whole episode was simply a mix-up and the kidnappers picked up the wrong target.

He revealed that his spouse was waiting for him on Wednesday around 8:30 a.m. at the corner of Colonial and Faucett in Callao.
“We intended to go to the "Carmen de la Legua" church but apparently, four armed suspects took her and drove off in a light truck”, he said. The kidnapping was also witnessed by a bus attendant, Victor Flores.

“They took the wrong person. We don't have any money”, said the victim's mother-in-law, Robertina Pasto, while hugging her grandsons Alejandro (7) and Adrián (3).

Twenty-six hours later, the family's nightmare would come to an end. One of the watchman informed them that Ana Isabel had reappeared. Although she is now safe, her long recovery process has only just begun.

The wherabouts of another kidnapping victim still remains unknown. Heidi Spitzer Chang, a University professor and chairwoman of a charity called "Adulto Feliz", was kidnapped 16 days ago on September 29th, and is still in the hands of her kidnappers. Her family requested that the police does not get involved in the case; obviously following a demand made by the captors.
