Peru | 8 November, 2006 [ 16:33 ]Good news for Peruvian consumers: electricity will become cheaper
(LIP-wb) -- Peru's Supervising Organization for Energy Investment (Osinerg) announced the reduction of electricity tariffs in Lima and rural areas retrospective from November 4th. Chairman Alfredo Verner said that in Lima the reduction averages between 2.76% and 2.79%, whereas in other Peruvian cities like Piura prices decrease by 2.73% and in Arequipa by 2.65%.
“If the oil price dramatically increases it would certainly have an impact on tariffs because what Osinerg does is to apply indexes that are fixed by law and corresponding decrees, but at this time we are applying a reduction”, he said.
"The bills due at the end of November will already reflect the price reduction for the consumption since November 4th”, he advanced.
