(LIP-wb) -- Lima, the capital of Peru, is a city of many traditions. One of them is the "Feria del Libro", the annual book fair which tonight opens its doors in the district of Miraflores.
After being held in San Borja for some years, the 2006 fair, organized by the Peruvian Chamber of Literature, moves to the district where its inspirer lived: magnificent writer Ricardo Palma.
The fair will be inaugurated today at 7 p.m. by the Minister for Education, Jose Chang. One of its main attractiveness will be special tribute for one of our better prose-writers, Antonio Gálvez Ronceros. This event will also begin today at 7 p.m. in the Assembly Hall of Miraflores. Poet Marco Martos and narrator Jose Antonio Bravo will participate in the ceremony.
The fair offers more than sixty events and activities like special book presentations, tributes, round tables and conferences.
One of outstanding events is the presentation of the last edition of the magazine Martin, dedicated to the great poet Carlos German Belli, recent winner of the Pablo Neruda Poetry prize.
Nevertheless, there is no fair without book presentations. Argentine Cielo Latino presents Abzurdah (Planet), a bestseller that touches the subject of anorexia as experienced by the book's author.
Peruvian writer Miguel Gutiérrez will showcase his "Five stories of women", among other featured presentations of outstanding works of literature.
The fair held in Parque Kennedy and other locations will last until December 11th. Entrance is free.
