3000 police troops to be on duty at Peruvian soccer finale

More than 3000 police officer will help keep order during Peru's soccer championship match

(LIP-jl) -- More than 3000 police officers will help keep the peace during the 2006 Peruvian soccer finale between Alianza Lima and Ciencano of Cuzco scheduled to be played at Alejandro Villanueva Stadium on Wednesday night.

The game, which will determine the next Peruvian soccer league champion, is considered to be 'high risk' by the Peruvian National Police.

Peruvian National Police spokesman Ruben Rodriguez Rabanal guaranteed that the presence of some 3000 police officers will help ensure safety before, during, and after the championship match.

Rabanal informed that only 30,000 tickets will be sold in an effort to keep the crowds at tamable levels.

Officers will begin their presence early on Wednesday securing Alianza Lima's Alejandro Villanueva Stadium in the district of La Victoria, adjacent to downtown Lima.

This will be the final leg of the two game championship series. The first game was won by Ciencano of Cuzco 1-0 in Cuzco last Saturday. Start time is scheduled for 8pm.

Great game, lots of scoring chances on both sides. But Alianza with more drive and willpower it seems. And the crowd at Matute stadium is their 12th man.

This game is far from over. Another goal by Cienciano and they are the champs based on away goals.
