(LivinginPeru) -- Wednesday's deadly military helicopter accident in the Andean department of Ayacucho has been blamed on heavy fog by Peruvian law enforcement authorities.
The accident involving a Twin Bell 212 helicopter from the Peruvian Air Force claimed the lives of three military officials -two members from the Peruvian Air Force and one from the Peruvian Army.
According to reports, the military delegation was inspecting Peru's Camisea gas pipeline system that runs through the area of Peru's Andes-Jungle border.
Four other passengers survived the accident and are currently in Lima receiving medical attention for their injuries. One of the injured passengers was the region's top military authority, Peruvian Army General Watler Chavez.
Details have not been released regarding the conditions of the 4 survivors except that they are staying at the Peruvian Air Force Hospital, located on Aramburu Avenue on the border of the Limean districts of San Isidro and Miraflores.
The bodies of the perished military members arrived in Lima yesterday at 3pm.
