Morning News Roundup**Update**Pregnant mother dies as result of bus accident


(LIP-jl) -- A pregnant mother who was run over by a bus in the Limean district of Santa Anita on Thursday night died yesterday in a La Molina area clinic. The victim, identified as Juana Palomino Miona, lost her unborn child shortly after the accident. Palomino became the 3rd fatal victim of the accident, joining Juana Beatriz Salazar (53) and Gladys Janet Roldan who both died immediately after Thursday's accident. (Link to Friday's article)


Helicopter crash victims laid to rest


(LIP-jl) -- Through tears and pain Patricia Cerna, wife of one of the victims of Wednesday's military helicopter accident in Ayacucho, cried, "How long will we have to see airplanes and helicopters fall from the sky because the government doesn't provide adequate maintenance on them?" All three victims were laid to rest yesterday at Jardines de la Paz cemetery in La Molina. As LivinginPeru reported yesterday, authorities blamed the accident on heavy fog. Lima's public transport sector threatens to strike



(LIP-jl) -- According to Peru's La Primera newspaper, Lima's public transportation system may be paralyzed on Wednesday, March 14 as public transportation workers threatened to go on a one-day strike if officials from Peru's Transportation Ministry do not establish financial guidelines on a proposed regional insurance measure soon.


Where's the beef? 1.5 tons of horse meat seized in Pisco, Peru



(LIP-jl) -- Authorities from the Peruvian National Police seized more than 1.5 tons of horse meat that was going to be sold as beef to unsuspecting customers in the city of Pisco. Police officers stopped and arrested Jose Jabobo Ruiz (37) and Luis Muñoz Quispe (24) on the Via Los Libertadores Highway, when they were just minutes away from distributing the meat to a local market.


Accident between a 'combi' and passenger bus leaves 15 injured in San Isidro



(LIP-jl) -- An accident between a 'combi,' a small van used as public transportation in Peru, and a passenger bus left 15 people injured yesterday near the intersection of Javier Prado Avenue and Paseo Parodi in San Isidro. According to reports, the driver of the combi ran a red light and crashed into the oncoming passenger bus. The injured passengers were taken to an area clinic. No deaths were reported.
