(LivinginPeru News) -- According to a report in the Peruvian newspaper
Peru21, Peru's search for a new head coach will end today when one of three likely candidates will be chosen to help lead Peru's National soccer team back to the World Cup.
Peru's 2010 World Cup-South Africa Commission, headed by Cienciano of Cuzco football club President Juvenal Silva, will meet this afternoon at the Peruvian Soccer Federation's training facilities, located in the Limean district of San Luis.
The three candidates that are considered to be among the favorites are Peruvians Juan Carlos Oblitas and Julio Cesar Uribe, and Uruguayan Jorge Fossati.
According to the report, Oblitas will likely be the next coach since Silva has publicly expressed his support for the former Liga Deportiva of Quito coach.
However, Fossati's name has been making a lot noise lately, especially with the other members of the commission.
"I don't dislike Fossati. I had a good conversation with him and his agent. To tell you the truth, I was very surprised that he was so knowledgeable and up to date on Peruvian soccer," stated Silva.
