(LivinginPeru News) -- During a press conference on the eve of his first ever concert in Peru, legendary rocker Roger Waters affirmed that tonight's concert will go down in Peruvian concert history.

"The technology we use is something that has no comparison. It was conceived and made to produce the only concert of its kind, making it difficult to copy," stated Waters.

The co-founder of the influential British rock band Pink Floyd arrived in Lima on Saturday afternoon, one day after wowing fans in the Colombian city of Bogotá.

Waters, who is currently on his 2007 Dark Side of the Moon Tour, proclaimed himself a fan of Peruvian culture.

"I am very happy to be visiting Peru for the first time and I hope this will be the first of many times to come," declared Waters.

Peru Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism Mercedes Araoz was on hand to present the veteran rocker with a chullo (a traditional Andean knit hat), a set of books that included a guide to Peruvian cuisine, and a Machu Picchu T-shirt.

Araoz also publicly invited Waters to participate and vote for the famous Incan sanctuary Machu Picchu in the current New Seven Wonders online/telephone contest (vote here).

According to local organizers, Water has requested a choir of 20 local children to accompany him during the performance of Another Brick in the Wall. The lucky children were chosen from Cambridge School.

Local organizers also informed that Waters has requested items and services such as a tennis court (including a professional tennis instructor), a golf course, and all the necessary equipment for a successful fishing trip for his stay in Peru.

Tonight's concert is scheduled to start at 8pm at the Explanada del Estadio Monumental, in the Limean district of Ate Vitarte.
