(LIP-ir) -- Yesterday afternoon, Doe Run Peru and union workers wrapped up a several month long discussion.
The Labor Minister has announced that they have come to an agreement with respect to the list of demands the union workers had.
Both parties signed legal documents thus putting an end to the strike.
According to the agreement, the mining company promises to categorize the work status of eight workers. This is to be done in the areas of Accounting, Security, Training and Human Resources by the 20th of July.
The mining company also promises to buy an ambulance for its workers. The new ambulance will be ready to assist workers as early as July 31. Meanwhile, other means of transportation are being temporarily rented by the mining company.
During the discussions, workers also managed to have the mining company commit itself to completing the construction of certain facilities. Such as an area to play sports, a swimming pool and having light posts placed on the soccer field.
Patruvit, a company which provides Doe Run Peru with different services, has agreed to give early vacation time and pilot a new work schedule.
