(LIP-ir)  --  Congressional President, Mercedes Cabanillas has stated that the amendments made to the free-trade pact between the United States and Peru, will be reviewed by congress in a plenary session this Wednesday.

She stated that the documents arrived to congress on Monday "informally" and that they would officially be received by congress from the Chancellery soon.

The Peruvian Nationalist Party (PNP) has a completely different view, having announced that they plan to protest on Tuesday June 26 the amendments made to the free-trade pact with the U.S, they have no intention of supporting the agreement.

Spokesperson for the PNP, Juvenal Ordóñez Salazar has pointed out that the main goal of this protest, which is to take place at Bolívar Plaza, is to reprove ministers in charge for the lack of clarity and openness when making the amendments to the free-trade pact.

The PNP has stated that the Peruvian government wants to impose the FTA on the country without having a deep discussion on the matter.

Ordóñez has said that his party renounces Cabanilla's announcement to discuss and approve the FTA at the plenary session on Wednesday and has invited unions and organizations to join his party in protest.

It's a real shame to see the corruption that has taken over the Garcia government. What they say and what they do are two different things. Peruvians citizens don't know what is being negotiated in the FTA amendments. What is this?
