(LIP-ir) -- Peru's Prime Minister Jorge del Castillo spoke out on July 5 to CPN Radio against parties that are tampering with internal government policies and attempting to create national instability.
He stated, "This comes from the Chávez movement, he is trying to do here what he has done in Nicaragua and other parts of Latin America."
The Premier focused his statements on his disapproval of an ALBA office in Puno. ALBA, the Bolivarian Alternative for Latin America, was proposed by Venezuela as an alternative to the U.S. sponsored Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA).
It is planned that ALBA will be implemented among Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua and Bolivia in the future.
Prime Minister del Castillo is questioning the presence of an ALBA office in Peru when Peru has nothing to do with the agreement.
Despite the government's concern and denouncement of the presence of ALBA offices, Puno's Regional President, Hernán Fuentes has announced that another ALBA office will be established in Juliaca.
Fuentes has explained that the presence of the offices will aid in health services and assist in education. He has expressed his plans to place more ALBA offices in different parts of the province when possible.
The regional president has denied receiving any type of remuneration from the Venezuelan government to set up ALBA offices in the region.
