(LIP-ir) -- In a meeting with Peru’s press, Peru’s new National Selection Soccer Coach, “Chemo” del Solar, stated he would respect the press and give them time to speak to him and to Peru’s players.
With the experience del Solar has acquired coaching teams such as Colón de Santa Fe, Sporting Cristal and Chile’s Católica University, he has found it wise to open up a line of communication and establish certain rules, so that Peru’s unforgiving soccer press and the new coaching staff will be able to co-exist as Peru’s elite attempt to qualify for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Del Solar has stated that he will not work behind closed doors and has promised to speak to press up to 3 times a week, even while in the process of qualifying for the World Cup.
The new coach has also clarified that he will not give any exclusive interviews but has made the team’s training area, with the approval of Peru’s Soccer Federation, available to the press so they can work in peace.
There is to be a designated area where press will have the chance to speak to players. Del Solar emphasized that he will not tolerate scandals and has stressed the importance of discipline among the players.
Del Solar’s first practice with his new team is to take place on Monday August 13.
