(LIP-ir) -- Prosecuting attorney, Miguel Narro Salazar, has pressed charges against María Rosas García, a worker for the Municipality of La Victoria, who allegedly stole provisions which people had donated for the victims of the earthquake that struck Peru on August 15.

María Rosas García has been suspended from her position as Civil Defense Assistant Manager for the Municipality of La Victoria and has been accused, along with 5 other people, of having stolen the provisions.

Charges were pressed after 76 bags with 150 kilos of clothes and food, along with 1,000 liters of water, were found at García's residence.

All of the items found were provisions that the community of La Victoria had donated to the victims of the magnitude-8 earthquake that devastated the Provinces of Cañete, Ica, Chinca and Pisco.

Garcia was charged along with alleged accomplices; Luz Olivera Pianto, Henri Porras Romero, Yonathan Rivas Vásquez, Daniel Vara Tanchiba and Claudia Medina Zumaeta. It is suspected that the team helped unload and move the 76 bags into Rosas García's house located at 1432 Manco Cápac Avenue.

Prosecutor Miguel Narro, stated that if found guilty, the group of accused people could face from 2 - 8 years in prison.

I am not being critical of linvinginperu.com, but the other press presented the public servants side of the story where she claims that she was receiving donations at home in the evening hours and was transporting them, little by little to her collection spot.

I do not know if this is true, in fact I seriously doubt it is true, but her side should be presented.

If she is guilty, I hope she is sent to prison.
