(LIP-ir) -- According to the latest reports from Peru's Civil Defense, the magnitude-8 earthquake that struck Peru on August 15, has left 513 people dead, 1090 injured and 37, 521 houses destroyed.
The National Civil Defense Institute (INDECI) reported that the death toll rose when 10 more bodies were found in the city of Chincha, one of the areas most affected by the earthquake.
Just 25 miles from the epicenter of the earthquake, Chincha has been devastated by last weeks earthquake.
Peru's INDECI also reported that 46 schools have been completely destroyed while 166 have been affected by the earthquake. Of the schools affected 120 are in Huancavelica.
In the Region of Ica, which is made up of the Provinces of Chincha, Ica, Nazca and Pisco, Peru's INDECI has reported that 491 people were killed, 829 were injured and 32,310 homes were destroyed.
In the Region of Lima, consisting of the Provinces of Cañete, Huarochiri, Lima, Yauyos and Callao, it has been reported that 19 people have died, 198 were injured and 3,965 homes have been destroyed.
Huancavelica was the Region most affected in the Andean area, it was reported that 3 people were killed, 15 were hurt, 313 houses were destroyed and 948 were affected by the earthquake.
Search and rescue missions continued for 5 days after the earthquake, most teams have left Pisco's center. Rescue missions are being carried out in a few places where it is believed that there may still be survivors, such as the Embassy Hotel, which collapsed while guests were inside.
