(LIP-ir) -- Peru's Andina News Agency reported today, that former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori is calmly awaiting his sentence alone at his mansion in the Chicuero Hacienda in Santiago de Chile.
According to Andina News Agency, Fujimori's spokesperson in Lima, Carlos Raffo, stated that he had spoken to Peru's former president and that Fujimori had told him that he was calm and sure that he would not be extradited to Peru because "the truth was on his side."
Chile's Supreme Court has stated that it will pass its sentence tomorrow, on the extradition Peru formally requested in 2006, holding Fujimori accountable for crimes ranging from illegal telephone tapping, to inappropriate use of state funds, to state-sponsored massacres.
Raffo stated that presently none of Fujimori's children are accompanying him in the Chilean capital but stated that this could change once his sentence was passed.
"Fujimori is calm, with a clean conscience, knowing that he did not commit any of the crimes he is being accused of, that is why he awaits his sentence calmly, because the truth is on his side," stated Raffo.
According to Chiles government this is the final step in Fujimori's extradition process.
