Fujimori Victims Hold Vigil in Front of Chile's Embassy in Peru

(LIP-ir) -- The family members of the victims which were allegedly murdered during Alberto Fujimori's administration in Peru, held a vigil yesterday in front of Chile's Embassy in Peru.

Organizers called the vigil, "Extradition Vigil" and stated that the peoples effort was to demonstrate to Chile's government how important the extradition of Peru's former president really was.

In addition, organizers stated they wanted Chile's government to know the hope they had in Chile's Supreme Court.

"We want to show Chile and the world the interest and hope we have that this ruling will serve justice and that Fujimori will be extradited and be processed in Peru for the crimes he committed," said Gisella Ortiz, a representative of victims' family members.

It was reported that the family members of 9 students and 1 teacher were present at the vigil held in front of Chile's embassy. In 1992, the students and the teacher were kidnapped from La Cantuta University and murdered by the Colina hit squad. Human rights activists were also present, demanding Fujimori's extradition and supporting family members.

According to Peru's official government news agency, it was reported this morning that Christian Fuenzalida, the director of communications for Chile's Supreme Court, stated that a ruling would be given tomorrow because files were still being checked.

What about if we hold a vigil for the victims of Shining Path who Mr Fujimori successfully disarticulated?. I wouldn't be surprised if chávez is behind this vigil in Chile

so, what you are basically saying that he should get a free pass for torturing  and killing people since he took down someone else who was doing the same thing.

You are beautiful.  What other crimes against humanity can you justify?   Hitler could have used your PR spin on things.

Personally, I am glad Shining Path leaders faced justice in whatever form, and I think Fujimori should face justice as well.
