After Loss to Chile, Peru's 2010 World Cup Commission will not Fire Del Solar

(LIP-ir) -- Peru's 2010 World Cup Commission has announced that it has decided to support Peru's national soccer coach José “Chemo” Del Solar.

The World Cup commission stated it would not fire Peru's new coach even if the team did not do well in its upcoming games against Brazil and Ecuador.

After Peru lost to Chile 2 - 0 yesterday, José Mallqui, a member of the 2010 World Cup Commission told Andina news agency that the commission would respect the contract they had with del Solar.

José Guillermo del Solar has a contract to continue coaching the national squad throughout the entire first round of the 2010 World Cup qualifiers, which are to end on December 11 2008, the same day Peru will go up against Bolivia.

"It is very clear to us as a commission that we need continue giving del Solar all of our support. It hasn't crossed our mind to dismiss him or hire another coach," said Mallqui. "It is clear that if we want to reach a World Cup we have to be strong in Lima and achieve a tie when on an away game. I hope the team does better against Brazil."

Peru's following 2010 World Cup qualifiers will be on November 17 and 22. Peru's national soccer team is to go up against Brazil and Ecuador. After its tie with Paraguay, Peru is currently in eighth place in team rankings
