US the Target of Muslim Terrorist Organization Operating in Lima, Peru

(LIP-ir) -- With the help of US intelligence, Peru's National Police has discovered an organization, led by a Peruvian, that sends Muslims to the US to commit terrorist acts.

According to Peru's daily "Expresso", an elite unit of Peru's National Police is on the brink of catching an Arabic terrorist network which is illegally sending Middle Eastern people from Peru to the US to commit acts of terrorism.

It was reported that a Peruvian is at the head of the organization which takes care of giving the Islamic foreigners a new identity, fake passports and getting them into the US. Expresso reported that the terrorist network was discovered thanks to intelligence provided by US Secret Service.

Furthermore, Expresso reported that a reliable unnamed source had stated that the head of the organization had been identified and would be arrested within the next few hours. The terrorist smugglers were made up of three other Peruvians and a Hindu, all of which have been identified and will be arrested.

Peru's Ministry of the Interior, the National Police and the Directorate Against Terrorism (DIRCOTE) have coordinated for the capture of the members of the network.

Sources told Expresso daily that Peru, especially the city of Lima, was a bridge for foreigners to illegally enter the US with documents provided by Peruvian organizations.

There are some things that strike me as odd about this story...

Why would they report that they are "ON THE BRINK" of catching... wouldn't that give away the element of surprise?

If it is true, then the reporter who leaked this story should go to jail for endagerning the lives of the elite police department....as should the source.

If it is true, then I wish them luck and would offer a well done to the Peruvian Police.

I think that they were trying to claim that the Peruvian police were 'on the brink' of catching the criminals, before the US provided inteligence info.  As to say that 'good work' was done by the Peruvian Police and that the US hardly did anything... or that they would have caught them anyway even without the US's help...

possibly, Splaktar, I sort of thought that at first, but this part is what confused me..

Expresso reported that a reliable unnamed source had stated that the head of the organization had been identified and would be arrested within the next few hours.

in the next few hours?  That again suggests something that should not be released.

That's certainly possible or they could have printed that article many hours after it was written (after the arrest would have taken place).

This looks like as a stupid article, made by stupid "journalists", and addressed to stupid readers.
"... and would be arrested within the next few hours" ... came on !
Is the situation so bad in Peru, allowing pseudo "journalists" to publish this kind of rubbish ?
