Yesterday the ballet dancer Maritza Garrido Lecca was sentenced for 20 years in prison for terrorism against the state. She has already spent in prison, so she still has 7 years more before she can be released.
Garrido Lecca was captured in September 1992 together with Abimael Guzman the leader of “Shinning Path” (Sendero Luminoso). The authorities confirmed that she was part of the support committee of this terrorist movement. She and Carlos Inchaustegui rented a house where they hid Shinning Path's top leaders.
