Peru police fuel spending controlled by computer chips

In a deal made on Tuesday, Peru's national police agreed to only purchase fuel for its cars, planes, ships and machinery from Petro-Peru, the country's state oil company.

Petro-Peru's 800 fuel stations are to supply approximately 8,000 of the country's police vehicles.

Peru's President Alan Garcia was present as the Minister of the Interior, Luis Alva Castro and the head of Petro-Peru, Cesar Gutierrez signed the agreement.

It was reported that the new deal is to save the State more than five million soles per year, since Petro-Peru will not charge the national police transport, warehouse or distribution fees.

State institutions are working together to save on costs and to guarantee that there are no "cases of immorality," said President Garcia.

Computer chips are to be installed into police vehicles to make sure they are the only ones that receive the fuel; thus, eliminating the problem of having the fuel sold to third parties.

It was reported that forty Petro-Peru fuel stations in Lima will begin to supply the country's police force in three months.

The entire system is to be placed into effect in six months. Petro-Peru has committed to take the fuel to the regions where it does not have fuel stations.

Sure was nice buying pnp fuel at 3 soles a Gallon below price in the Grifos.  So now the PNP will have figure out how to sell fuel out the back door with this chip.
