José Luis Carranza, better known as "El Puma" in Peru, demonstrated in a match on Thursday afternoon that he continues to like playing rough.
The retired midfielder, who played his entire club career for Lima's Universitario de Deportes, fouled the president of Bolivia, Evo Morales in a friendly held at the Universidad de Ingenieria.
The match was held as a part of "The People's Summit", a four-day summit being carried out at the same time the EU-LAC summit is being held.
El Puma fouled Morales just minutes after the match began. The president of Bolivia was passed the ball by a forward and began making his way towards Peru's goal.
Carranza appeared abruptly and used his body to steal the ball from Morales, leaving him sitting on the ground.
The president of Bolivia quickly shook off the blow and got back into the game. Puma showed a gesture of apology as the match continued.
It was reported that El Puma was upset because the game had been held up and started extremely late.
To top it off, when Morales arrived, the press stopped paying attention to Peru's national selection in an effort to speak to Bolivia's president, reported El Comercio daily.
2,000 people were present at the game, including former presidential candidate Ollanta Humala.
