Senior tennis players from all over South America will be coming to an upscale Lima club to play in this year's International Tennis Federation Seniors Tournament.
This second edition of the international tournament, which has been dubbed "Ciudad de Miraflores" or the "Universidad Alas Peruanas Cup", is to be held at the prestigious Club de Tenis Las Terrazas Miraflores from June 2 - June 7.
Tennis players between the ages of 35 and 85 from countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, the United States and Italy are to take part in this tournament, which is being regulated by the International Tennis Federation and the South American Tennis Confederation (COSAT).
Over 200 tennis players from several of the world's nations will be in Peru to take a shot at the title in their categories, said Dr. Eduardo Lipari, President of the organizing committee.
Peru will honorably be represented by players such as Américo “Tupi” Venero, Karim Strohmeier, Lorena Rodríguez, Zenón Miranda, Luis Garbín and Jose Heighes among others.
Known for its first-class clay courts, Club de Tenis Las Terrazas Miraflores will provide ten of its finest courts for the championship, which is to be held on a daily basis from 9:30 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Arturo Woodman, president of the Peruvian Institute for Sports along with Edmundo Jaramillo, the president of the Peruvian Tennis Federation will be present at an inauguration ceremony that is to be held on Tuesday May 3.
