(LIP-do) -- Peru’s minister of Foreign Affairs, José Antonio García Belaunde, stated today he trusts Ecuador and Bolivia will allow change of the Andean Community of Nations (CAN) Decision 486, which affects implementation of Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with United States. García Belaunde said he had talked with Ecuador’s Foreign minister, María Isabel Salvador about this topic and there will be no difficulty about Peruvian proposal to amend the aforesaid decision.

He added that he expects to have a meeting today with his Bolivian counterpart, David Choquehuanca. Both ministers are attending the 38º Regular Session of the Organization of American States (OAS) General Assembly which is held in Medellin, Colombia. “We have talked about this issue with Ecuador and I will do the same with Bolivia”, said García Belaunde to a local news radio.

The Peruvian proposal to amend Decision No. 486 is a requirement in intellectual property, which will allow it to adapt its legislation to the demands of the FTA with U.S.; however, Bolivia and Ecuador have questioned the Peru - U.S agreement and have expressed its refusal to accept the above-mentioned amendment.

It's time for Peru to make it's own destiny and think of itself and it's peoples. Ecuador and Bolivia are on the brink of Anarchy and civil war. Ecuador is free falling into the Abyss of socialism and civil unrest caused by The narco-terrorists and corruption.Bolivia is on the brink of civil war. It's time to jettison these anchors of free enterprise and steer our own course. My two anchovies worth . Chau

Shove it CapitanDan. Most of the countries in Western Europe are socialist to some degree and they are better off than Peru can ever dream of becoming. Even the USA, which you apparently worship, has many "socialist" aspects. Get your head out of the toilet.

Ah Spain, so much anger over such a trivial point.Cool I won't even answer the socialism part of your comment , but as to the Toilet. As most women in Peru and other countries can attest too the toilet is seldom hit . See you there. Chau AmigoWink

The wealthiest European countries are Capitalist with a Social Conscience.  It takes wealth to afford a social conscience.  Socialism is an ideal that hasn't worked except in a Totalitarian government like China.  Just look at Cuba for example.  I consider Peru as a ship, and Bolivia and Ecuador as anchors adraggin.
