
Peru's Ministry of Agriculture (Minag) reported today that Peru’s agricultural exports hit a new record of US$ 1.1 billion in 2008 first half, an increase of 31.2 percent compared to same month in 2007 (US$ 849 million).
The volume of agricultural exports for this period, with 511 shipments, reached 755,000 tons, a 23 percent rise compared to same period last year when they totaled 616.000.
In the first half of the year, Peruvian agricultural products were exported to 125 destination markets including the United States with 52% of total exports (281 million dollars), Holland (116 million), Spain (115 million) and México (69 million).
According to the General Department of Agrarian Information (DGIA) of Peru's Ministry of Agriculture (Minag), this information is based on the appendix I of the Agreement on Agriculture of the World Trade Organization (WTO).
