China ambassador confident about Peru free trade deal

The Chinese ambassador to Peru, Gao Zhengyue, said to be confident that Peru and China will concrete a Free Trade Agreement with the progress to be achieved in the fifth negotiations round, which will be held in Lima this month.

“I am sure that with the effort of both countries, experts' deals will be concreted”, said Zhengyue to Andina news agency.

He also indicated to be sure that the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC) to take place in November, in Lima, will be carried out in an excellent way.

“It will be a great summit, China has an important role, and we expect that with efforts of Peru's government and people the forum can be developed in an excellent way, we trust that”, he added.

In regard to the Olympic Games, he expressed they are a symbol to strengthen friendship and bring people from different parts of the world closer in significant sporting events.

Que tal all,

Peruanas should be wary of this "free trade deal" because China only enters into these pacts for its own good. They historically buy much raw materials from their "trade partners" and,in turn, flood the partner's markets with cheap clothing, shoes, electrical equipment etc etc which is usually to the detriment of any of those products produced locally...eventually, local industries collapse and guess what happens to the prices ??...they skyrocket and ultimately become the same as the original, local product OR more expensive through profit making by the importers.

Very true Peter:

The issue s here is that this country(Peru) as Historic as it is, has never had this happen to them and are unaware of the concepts of how other minds (work) so they don't know and this is no fault of theirs,as this is a new step that they will be taking and thinking that it will put balance to a better future for all in Peru , needless do they know, that other s only work to maintain for themselves at what ever works for them,(not the ones they don't want to help) The problem here is that Peru will have to protect and guard all Peruvian Rights,so that other countries  don't strip it of it own Natural Resourses, because once these are gone or fallen into other hands,(its all over)

Yes Rev, I can understand the Peruana predicament...unfortunately, the senior politicians make the decisions....some with mis-guided intentions, some for ulterior reasons ...either which way, it will be up to the importers, the mineral enterprises etc etc.to carefully consider their obligations to the Peruan nation.
The "everyday" people can show some resistance/demonstration against the "cheap" imported Chinese products by NOT buying them...but, really,really...this is difficult to resist because of personal economic situations...whether it's a Peruan soles or an Australian dollar...we all can only "stretch" our money so far to cope with the cost of living....so it is NOT an easy thing to resist.
It has happened here in Australia over the past 15 years or so, and now we are "paying the price"...no shoes or clothing made here...and the prices have risen dramatically now the  Chinese manufacturers and our importers have basic control of our market....for example...a man's standard white business shirt(from China) was about Aus$13.00 (NS32.00) about 8 years ago....now, the same shirt(from China) is about Aus$28.00(NS70.00).
So, we are now suffering from a "self-inflicted injury" here....I just hope that others can learn from such experiences as ours...as my father used to say to me..." learn from the mistakes of others, because YOU don't live long enough to make them all yourself and learn accordingly".

To echo your apt comment..."Be bloody careful Peru".....short time gain can easily become long time pain !!

saludos,
Peter
