At present, Peru is working on the implementation of a Multi-Model Ensemble Seasonal Prediction System used by most member economies of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC), reported today the National Meteorological and Hydrological Service (SENAMHI).
Executive president of SENAMHI Wilar Gamarra explained that APEC member economies share the last knowledge and experiences on weather reports through this model, which let them improve their weather forecast.
The government along with the APEC Climate Center (APCC) has been working on the development of atmospheric models since several years ago, in order to prevent similar situations, he said.
However, besides developing its own models, Peru aims to have an Asia-Pacific region database in order to share valuable information and reduce meteorological phenomena impact suffered by many people and that is hitting the economy of the country, he told Andina news agency.
