
The ministers of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum (APEC), to attend the 15th Small and Medium Enterprise Ministerial Meeting on August 28-29 in the city of Chiclayo (Lambayeque), will analyze the strengthening of regional hubs (logistic centres where passengers and merchandise and reembarked) to allow an important development in the local markets.
“Our challenge for the SMEs has an exceptional list of allies in these APEC economies which will give us the boost to continue progressing”, said the Peruvian minister of Production, Rafael Rey.
He explained that the topic of regional hubs is one of special interest for the Peruvian economy because it considers to meet in an intermediate point, accessible for all SMEs, services that normally would not be within their reach due to costs and sophistication, but under the principles of scale and synergy could be requested and shared case by case avoiding great investments.
Rey, who will chair this ministerial meeting in his capacity as host of the event, highlighted that this meeting has caused special interest due to the main topic referred to SMEs and business solutions for its development.
He added that the Asia-Pacific ministers will tackle concrete topics regarding business formalization, business facilitation, innovation and technologies transfer.
“The Peruvian SMEs should be benefited directly by the experiences and innovation that its Asian and Pacific counterparts will share”, he stated.
