Living in Peru

In an effort to continue supporting young Martín Seminario Sánchez, Wilfredo Sandoval, a correspondent for Peru's El Comercio daily, recently published another article on the Pan American chess champ's campaign to raise funds.
According to Sandoval, Martin and his father continue collecting money to be able to travel to a world chess championship in Vietnam.
The father-son duo is to be at Chiclayo's central park this weekend receiving all the help they can get.
Last weekend, Martin and his father announced their case to fans during a soccer match, many of which decided to help the young Peruvian champ.
Representatives at Elías Aguirre Stadium have given Martin and his father permission to raise funds at the sports facility for their trip to Vietnam in October.
It was reported that the people of Lambayeque, one of Peru's northwestern coastal regions, have responded well and are helping Martin make it to the world chess championship.
While the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD) has not provided any help, Edwin Seminario and his son have managed to collect 2,000 soles.
The 2000 in donations plus the 1,500 soles the governor of Lambayeque granted them, give Martin and his dad a little over $1,000.
The trip to Vietnam will cost Edwin $10,000.
There are congressional representatives that have joined the cause and have promised to help Martin make it to Vietnam, said Wilfredo Sandoval.
This is not the first time the IPD has not been able to help Martin.
He had the same problem when he wanted to compete in Argentina, where he won the Pan American title.
