The institution Mesa Redonda Panamericana of Chiclayo, in Lambayeque (Peruvian northern department), has planned to implement reading circles at public main squares of this city in order to promote reading, stated its director Carmen Gutiérrez de Vergara.
Gutiérrez de Vergara explained that this initiative is part of the “Lee Chiclayo lee” (Read Chiclayo read) program, which aims to promote reading among children and young people.
The Director said to Andina news agency that its office had started procedures with the National Institute of Culture (INC) and Chiclayo's provincial municipality to launch this project, which seeks the cultural development of people in the area.
In addition, she indicated that they will stress reading with values. "We have planned to start this project next year, which will be carried out on weekends".
