Star chef Gaston Acurio boosts Peru’s culinary confidence

It’s a confidence issue, really. That’s why you’ve probably never tasted aji de gallina, deboned chicken drizzled with creamy chili sauce, or lomo saltado, Peru’s classic beef and tomato stir-fry, said Gaston Acurio, the nation’s wildly popular leading chef. “We have a mentality: Nobody will like our food even though it’s tasty,” he said. “People think the things Peruvians do are third world.” (AP - click here to read complete article by Victoria Bekiempis)

Individual bets on the Polos as one of the main men’s products for next season. There are diverse patterns and various colors. And they are made with the best cotton in the world: Pima Cotton. Peru lures children into the world of Windows

AFTER DISAPPOINTING news back in April that One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) might dump Linux in favour of the Vole’s Windows XP on its cheap and cheerful XO, the government of Peru today announced it would be first to implement the change. OLPC, which used to want to provide small, super cheap laptops for kids – mainly in the developing world – originally had its XO based only on Linux, running a home-made app called Sugar. But now, in Peru, the pequeño XO lappie will be running the Vole’s XP instead. (The Inquirer - click here to read complete article by Sylvie Barak and Fernando Cassia)

Tennis / Israel vs. Peru Davis Cup Encounter / Locals focus on remaining in top tier

So who does Dudi Sela, Israel's top-ranking male tennis player, think will win the Davis Cup encounter between Israel and Peru in the leafy Tel Aviv suburb of Ramat Hasharon this coming weekend? "Honestly, I haven't got a clear answer to that," he says. Sela, who at one point threatened not to participate in the Davis Cup because he was angry at his exclusion from Israel's delegation to the Olympics, laments that the encounter wasn't held a few months ago, when he says the team "was in much better shape." That's too bad about the people needing to flee their homes in Bolivia.  I guess we should be happy here in Peru.  If Humala had been elected, we would be joining them in fleeing from our homes and trying to find safety.
