Supreme Court Justice Francisco Távara (right) announced that Peru's former President Alberto Fujimori would be sentenced on human rights violations before the end of the year.

Távara affirmed the court would sentence Fujimori on his alleged involvement in the Barrios Altos and Cantuta massacres as well as the kidnapping of journalist Gustavo Gorriti and businessman Samuel Dyer.

"The court should have a final decision before December," said Távara in an interview with CPN reporters.

In addition, the justice requested that both parties respect the court's final decision.

"The court's decision must be respected, whatever it may be, it could be an acquittal or a conviction," said the Supreme Court judge, explaining that if there were discrepancies they could be solved following legal procedures.

"The parties that are not satisfied with our decision, which will be a result of impartiality and independence, will make their complaints known through due process," said Távara.

He recognized the panel of judges presiding over the Fujimori case for their probity and independence.

Peruvian prosecutors are seeking the maximum sentence of thirty years in prison for the deaths of 25 people in two massacres from 1991 - 1992 as well as the kidnapping of a journalist and businessman.

I will believe it when I see it.
Sadly, if his daughter runs for president and wins she will pardon him.

Despite the lack of evidence against him, and despite being the President who actually SAVED Peru from economical collapse and terrorism, Fujimori will be found "guilty".
But this is not the first time in History where INJUSTICE is served.

The good news is that KEIKO will win, if she runs for President.

I hope Keiko runs for President.  She is intelligent, courageous, inspirational, and visionary like her father.  I would encourage all my Peruvian friends to vote for her.

danidando,

I can only hope that if Keiko becomes president and follows in her fathers footsteps, that when she has innocents killed in cold blood, that is is your family and not mine.
