About new prime minister- I think to choice mister Simon to put as prime minister was a right choice, better touch of pink course now than ultra extremist or total anarchy tomorrow. It was hard for me to make an statement like that that- and more hard is that it had to come so down to it-But to judge well You have to see what means less damage for the country under present circumstance were not only the resent par lament felt apart-The most sad thing- in some areas the country too. (People take law in their hand, terrorism again, liberated areas and so on) Well obvious with all ongoing steeling, corruptions, strike wafes, civil uprisings and so on the models from the past didn’t work out in a satisfying way – Mister Garcia is among Peruvians popular around 20 percent- (myself I think he has now only solid 5 points, by saying- it can’t get worse) and Mister Lula in Brazil has solid 80 percent.Even that I disagree with political ideology from Mister Simon (I am former communist political refugee, an experience which nobody in this forum can chare with me and my judgment should count very much because I have many reasons of being driven by hate but still maintain to be fair and just I can t be blind about Peruvian reality were 50 percent are living in eternity poorness and with promises which were never get kept- most of all acsess to modern not corrupted institutions like Justice system also education and a basic health protection. If you ask me- I think Mister Simon now is standing for a more moderate leftist model and changed many of his opinions from the past , he has willingness for dialogue and work with everyone- , his will for forgiveness- he does not seem to me as populist for me yet and as fare as I know he has not corruption accusations. Hopefully it will stay like that in the future too- others surely will look after those things in a better and sophisticated way because they know sooner or later – some of them go down when they fall into to much ambition- like we saw in recent scandal which involved ex prime minister and another ex primeminister and so on.Seriously I wish Mister Simon luck and a good hand to get capable persons from other parties (Fujimorie, Action popular, Unidad nacional , Peru possible )- no matter right or left wing or opposition in the boat to make the country a better place in times of turmoil which seem to be more in front of us than behind us.

Did not understand your question- but clearly I am not a fan from mister Garcia- I made it clear before - our endless long time speaker with many nice houses, kids from several woman, birds on his shoulders and a lot of expensive oil on his head- and most of all- I turn my TV off when I see him because his kind of supuestos populistic performance would not even find lot of fans fans in "speakers corner" in London
Anyhow where we are now (little finacial meltdown and possible effects on Peru , a few new crime accused exprime ministers and the whole old cabinet for a few dayes in trouble with very long faces, little civil upraisings and in many areas angry folks ) I think to choice Mister Simon (which we have to see and waite and I wont judge him now after some well respected economists also expressed so- lets see first .) was a solution which might give the country on short term quitness and quitness is ok.
Nothing more and nothing less. going by Math anf not by Feelings.
If it will work out on middle term that has to be profed- depends if he keeps promises and morks his anticorruption office work and the future chief from this office does not get only pregnat and forgotten on fotos locking to the sky, and also it depends if mister Simon in upcomming times does not get just lets name it "adjusted" lake so many politicians before.
But one thing I can tell for sure- even if mister Simon works very well- it will may be mister Simon make a better respected men and help him politically (his regional work he did already not so bad)
But love for our first men?
Peruvians?
Now?
With all what they saw on tv, or not could see on tv and can imagine only between the lines- quit impossible after all the harm his first governement left behind.
(Today I was reading Mister Simon rather takes 1 percent of inflation than a little bit of recesion- does not work for me, I think inflation is already relative high in comparation to income and should be pressed down- in province is much more than in Lima and people there are upset)
Also the little planning on eventual changes from Ministers who just have few dayes- well an unfortunal declaration which should not be have made . )

Raúl Castro Stagnaro is a member of The National Unity Party.Add your comment
After Alan Garcia Resigns Peru will become a Socialist country.
This means Ollanta Humala or Lourdes Flores will be President on 2011.
