Google executives keen to work on Peruvian education

Jeff Keltner, Keltner, Business Development Manager for Google Apps, the most popular company of Internet, stated today in Lima that his company would be happy to work with the Peruvian government to provide free apps to schools across the whole country.

"If the Peruvian government is interested in working with us, we would like to explore this possibility," Keltner said during the presentation in a hotel in Miraflores for the partnership between the Peruvian university Cesar Vallejo and Google Inc.

What Google usually does with schools is offering free services, both in software and hardware, which in other cases would be paid.

Among the tools provided in the educational package of Google Apps Education Edition, are the popular email accounts “Gmail”, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Gtalk!, and the  personalized web, where the student selects the content of their choice and have access to full control of the web platform from a single screen.

"The most important thing is that we are talking about participatory applications that allow students to create and edit documents at the same time", he said to Andina news agency.

this is very nice- may be the owners can make some deels with local tv channals an pay programs for TV education add to their red education programs or combine this programs.
Give it a push on internacional level- It would be just fine if Mister Obama can make a 1 minute phone call to Peru on this issue.
TV education is part from almost every developed country TV culture and this since 20 years.
I ve listen a lot of comments from very wealthy persons- just lets name it second or third world oligarcy  about "that it is better to let the "cholos" dump and "Sierranos are stupid and bruto anyhow" and I found this statments very arrogant because I ve met specially in the mountains very wise people with great respect for nature and resources and how important it is of not to waste them. Unfortunally their voices dont count enough among society and  good education for their kids they can not pay.
from my point of few the whole peruvian education system has to be renovated from the bottom- may be it would make sence that private teachers are obligated by new laws to teach on a nacional school for one day a week- It would be a start.
May be some TV channals find it interesting to make morning program swich from old TV series like Bonanza/Bewitched of afternoon Vedette shows   to go for some hours into language literature or nature science programation- Rating will raise - this I can assure- and it would be a great sample.
