Living in Peru : your everyday companion

Peruvian Vice-President Luis Giampietri received the “Gran Cruz” merit award for services rendered as President of the High Level Extraordinary Committee of the APEC 2008 Summit.
 
The merit was awarded by Foreign Affairs Minister, Jose Antonio García Belaunde. The ceremony was witnessed by President García.

“We have done this with Peru in mind, and this is a reflection of what the Peruvian people can accomplish”, said Giampietri.
 
During the Chancellor’s speech he indicated that the distinction was the Government’s way of expressing its gratitude and appreciation for Giampietri’s hard work and dedication in making sure that this year Peru could play host to the 21 APEC member economies.
 “It was strenuous exemplary work. Today Peru is a country which has put the best of itself forward and has made every Peruvian feel proud of our capacity to work well together ”
