After 76 days of being incarcerated in a women's prison for defamation charges, gossip journalist Magaly Medina gave a farewell show on Monday evening.

Head of public relations for ATV television station, Gonzalo Von Hesse explained that Medina would appear in one show on January 5 and then take a well-deserved break. "She will basically thank the people that have supported her during this time," said Von Hesse.

Before the show he told RPP radio, "Magaly wants to talk to her people, to express how she feels, what has happened and what is to come in the future. She'll speak about the cards, phone calls, e-mails, prayer chains and encouragement she has received."

Once the show began, the highly controversial host affirmed prison had changed her. "I'm not the same Magaly, prison has marked me...If the supreme court orders me to take back my statements then I'll do it," said Medina on the verge of tears.

Wearing a red dress knit by one of the inmates at Santa Monica prison, the gossip journalist affirmed that while prison had had a tremendous impact on her and her producer, she had not been able to cry. "It's as if my heart is frozen," said Medina.

She explained she needed to take a break from the show to recover physically and emotionally. "This isn't goodbye, it's just a brief see you later," said Magaly.

It is amazing what happens to people when they must face consequences for their actions.  I hope the 5 time convicted criminal learned a lesson.

you go girl!!!!!!! I think she is great!...its only because there is so much trash and cheaters getting up to no good that tv shows like this exist..and i say thank god they do...at least then we can see who the liars and cheats are out there!..the reason all the people shes reported have got angry is because they  all have somthing to hide...theres no smoke whith out fire. i think shes briliiant! any out spoken woman in peru will always be treated in this way because all the macho's out there feel un ease around her and she stills their  lime light! great stuff..and fantastic to watch!...in my view...shes was used as a scape goat to over ride the corruption in the governement at that time...the media and the government are very smart indeed. it worked. public attention was drawn into another direction...very smart!

I personally could not stand up for someone who has been found to fabricate, exagerate and make-up evidence that hurts people's families and careers.

She has 5 convictions and 13 more pending in what have been pretty open trials.  Liars that hurt people should neiter earn money by doing so nor be exhaulted, they should be scorned.

(Mike on this I cant not agree ,I cant be with you today- really I cant . )
Today some Peruvian newspapers proved that last TV appearance From miss Medina was quit something. I found it also very strange that Miss Medina had to invite her lawyer to explain her friendship and her case .
I also found it strange how critical she was as a journalist on the press who critizised her.  Her defense lawyer mister Nagasaki really should have his own program- because he is already in the morning on Peruvian TV.  From my neutral independent few Miss Medina , Miss Laura Bosso and Mister Jaime  Baily  have or had the most   disgusting programs. this few is exceptional personal and does not reflect opinion of everyone.
Anyhow between all of them seems to be some kind of friendship and an independent viewer can almost get the impression that they might have an agreement to protect each other.About miss Medina I spoke already. Miss Bosso who is not anymore present in Peruvian TV channels I quit remember a bit. In her program very often Peruvian families were fighting or show fighting each other- the program seemed to be some kind of cheap  version of famious antiqe gladatior fights (those from the roam Emire) - but with a difference- that in the case of miss Bosso it seemed very much poor Peruvians had to make the battles between them. As fare as I remember sometimes People even hurt each other strong.  If blood was running- I cant confirm that.

Mister Baily still is on aire- unfortunally he will never give me the opportunity to make his program a real “sharpshootist” for only 5 minutes on aire.  Anyhow- The still young, definitely smart  good looking  journalist often insist on his status as heterosexual person (something what does not so much interest Peruvians because they listen it already so often- and his homo or hetero sexual colleges abroad do excellent tv work without telling it every minute- by the way Saludos tu Ellen De Generis !!!.... ), has once in a while some crime ladies or stoned ladies (which end later on up nailed a little bit in jail) as star guests and seems to make his rating by not going a little bit deeper on certain issues for what reason ever.  
For this year he wished everyone a “happy ass”  (which is quit a good and hopeful wish because still almost 30 percents of Peruvians seemed to have  sometimes quit  unhappy stomachs) 
Anyhow same what he wished for 2009 to everyone I wish bag to him.

Yeah.. I dont know where I stand on Magaly herself and her program... whilst i dont like trashy journalism.. her show is a bit hypnotic.  

I do think that in any country that claims to have a free press demafamation is not something that should carry a custodial sentance.  In most other societies its the channel that broadcasts who feels the wrath of the courts, and the case is taken through a civil court for recuperation of financial damages.  

Sending someone to jail is really a bit of a joke.  For this reason I cant help feel for her.  I do ask myself would she have put herself through all that if it were made up?  Seems like her principles were motivating her.

Weekend mister Baily on TV- it came like many expected-Star guest daughter of accused ex minister Leon – he is does still according to news reports  time in jail. The lovely lady appeared and got plenty of time to explain some circumstances from recent scandal and possible involvement of her father which only few weeks ago was posted in several Peruvian newspapers as a rat after President from Peru named him so.Even the last TV watcher had to ask himself- what is going on here- because just few weeks before the young lady had to explain herself in front of Petro audio investigative commission which finally kind of lost the interest in the case after member of the commission appeared themselves as kind of possible involved.

Anyhow- it seems the young lady has a long political life a head- she was already warm welcomed from TV journalist Baily who even expressed that he would like to see her as a future first lady – with so much help from TV we don’t need to fear that this lady won’t last in politics.  Diamonds are forever.
