The Loreto's Regional Director of Health, Carlos Manrique, confirmed that the American citizen from Japanese descent Howard Hiroshi Ocawayashi, who had been under medical observation for some days, is not carrying the swine flu virus.

The health officer said that his case would only be a simple cold, due to the heavy rains that have been registered in the region these days.

“He arrived on April 20th . He should be showing already some swine flu symptoms and he's not. It's been more than enough days and we can rule out swine flu,” he said.

Manrique said in a press conference that the patient was discharged and is back to work, at the oil camp n°64, which belongs to Petrix.

However, a medical team will go to the mentioned oil camp to take blood samples of the workers and run the respective tests, since some other persons are having flu-like symptoms.
