Peru: Trees to be planted in Lima on Environment Day

Lima residents will plant today thousands of trees in several districts on the occasion of World Environment Day.
In an attempt to educate people about caring for the planet, Eco-group Vidas Verdes expects to plant 20,000 trees in a minute in 11 districts of the capital.
The simultaneous seeding will be carried out in 11 Lima districts including Ate, El Agustino, Surquillo, Barranco, San Miguel, San Juan de Lurigancho, Villa El Salvador, Villa Maria del Triunfo, San Juan de Miraflores, Santa Anita and Independencia.
It is expected that 30,000 people will participate.
Each tree specimen of Molle Serrano type costs about 3.5 U.S. dollars; for this reason Vidas Verdes sought the support from various institutions such as municipalities and private enterprises, according to Andina.
