Peru: Andahuaylas farmers lift the strike

LivinginPeru.com
Isabel Guerra

After hours of intense negotiations, Peru's Prime Minister, Yehude Simon, expressed his satisfaction about the agreements reached with the community, and congratulated the farmers for their participation in the talks.

Simon said to RadioProgramas del Peru (RPP) that the improvement works in seven sections of the road Ayacucho-Chincheros-Andahuaylas-Abancay will start in September: other four sections will be completed in April 2010, once the rainy season is over.

He also said that the Agriculture Minister, Carlos Leyton, agreed to cut interest rates for credits and to promote the sales of potatoes.

The signature of the Agreement Act will normalize the situation in Andahuaylas, which underwent 12 days of protests.

Ok, let me get this straight.  They're broke, they have no money, but they go on STRIKE?  They're so stupid they deserve to live in poverty and starve.

I don't agree with the strikes either. But to suggest people should just be left to die like animals, truly shows your callousness, David N. You must be a miserable embittered individual.

david,

just like the minors making choices, so do you.

Your hate, ignorance and lies are things you are free to spout, but do not confuse that with freedom from response as that is a freedom you do not have.

If you choose to continue to be a hateful ignorant holier-than-though liar, we will continue to tell you that we find you disgusting.

You know David- I was quit thinking about you and your comments- I agree- nobody should hurt anyone feelings but it seems that you in some of your comments do it to other people-But I was thinking a little bit deeper- friends of mine very reading LIP- and we’ve got to the same conclusion- there are many good comments- from all political perspective- ALL!!!- but in between it seems that there are some person who write their comments provocative and insulting – so that others who use their words cautious and balanced might fall into the game of eventual provocation- which could be used by persons opposed to their critics (from many people here quit democratic enforcing, remembering freedom of expression, social conflicts which have to be resolved, injustice , corruption and so on ) later on as a good base of difamantion- like saying- almost no one is expressing so quit often apparently  insulting like few people who seemed to be at the end paid from some persons who make things worst here in Peru and not better- or to  make others not write anymore and not go into the page.   I have nothing against you personal David- I am still waiting that l you don’t give me concrete and calm information about your perception about1. Justice administration in Peru2. Administration of freedom of expression3. Administration from democracy4. Respect from human rights5. Positive developments in the country/ foreign investment6. Environmental concerns  I am untill now concern you might be a big frame – may be paid to provocate all this good person who put their different and very interesting opinions here to fall into wrong words to have later on a judicial base of making them mouth shut- it happens very often.- and you must know David- written words stay as a constance for ever. May love enter your heart?-you  don’t need answer bag- I read sometimes  minds.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zA65KmOBTDw&feature=related

It is very positive that an agreement in Andayualas was reached and things hopefully return to normality and peace.
In deed promises have to be kept- infrastructure demands should be fulfilled more earlier- that situations like that can be avoided. .
Anyhow it was success for Mister Simon and a good prove for diplomacy no matter if Premier stays or not. Myself I think after what happen in Bagua he should resign like he told before- it would be political correct to show this way responsibility.  About openings from obras publicas realized by other representatives from govenerment.  Yesterday Trujillo news - In Trujillo in alto Moche there was quit outrage because a few days ago they open up water supply for the poor people and than after- no water came. This kind of performance should be avoided. Peruvians don’t want to see  openings- they want to be pleased with “obras concretas “ and the money for tribune speeches instead can be used for some frazadas for Puno.

What's sadder?

This strike?

Or David N. angrily replying to an alleged impersonator for the sake of us other posters? What a guy. And what a sad old man.

Although your other characterizations of David N are your opinion, I don't think I have seen David N lie about anything in the comments - just very negative opinions.

I know understand that we are all God's children with good and bad traits and judgement should be left to God and I will try to be more compassionate and reasonable and quit telling lies and being hateful.

I was listening first part of interpellation from congress to prime mister Simon.I found quit positive that the topic of freedom of expression was long discussed in congress. The time which was given to the topic of freedom of expression once more proved that in deed things have to be corrected into the right direction. It seems very clear that canal 7 was used only from government for propaganda and hopefully after this appellation the canal will be used in  a new form- more education, more dialogue, more transparency, more auto reflection. In the first part of appellation was touched   possible government intervention in canal 5 power changes and intervention from other institutions.Hopefully in upcoming times we see also in this canal new programs which dedicate their political reports in a neutral way and open new spaces for overound and helpful information’s to Peruvians.Quit surprising for me was to see that on another canal were a few days ago one opposition congressman had to explain about his different religion and another young opposition lady was hardly let spoken out and received with jokes it seems a new tone of how to make an interview started. Hopefully we see this corrected style in upcoming times and won’t be surprised again with performance which international journalism practice might describe as poor and unfair. Prime minister Simon made an interesting and outstanding proposal today against corruption- open bank accounts from congressmen and ministers – we have to thank him for his interesting ideal – a very good step into the direction of more transparency and good guideline into direction of true democracy. Peruvians’ will remember him for being the first to let see his numbers. Anyhow   I think after what happens in Bagua and the big amount of people who died there it would be good that he takes political consequences and steps down. History in years might judge mister Simon more mild when truth about events in the jungle will be complete discovered and we have the names all those on the desk who gave the orders, were involved , took wrong decisions  or underestimate the situation there. In deed – and this congress wont discuss today many Peruvians are curious about what is really behind Petrogate and all the suite goings in and out from public figures. Leading figures from the country sooner than later will have to give answer on that.

(to David 1,2, 3  - who becomes my favorite framer sweatheart here-  go for it-  and others take well care that you wont go pritty outhanded....you wont have anything against that .
wont you?)-
to Star- I very much agree with you- I think I become an idiot little by little....but it wont stop me to write about Peru.......
