Peru: each Limean eats 58kg of chicken per year

Chicken production has grown at an average annual rate of almost 11% in recent years, according to Pedro Mitma, President of the Peruvian Poultry Association (APA).

The poultry sector accounts for 21% of the value of agricultural production and 51% of the value of livestock production in Peru.

Mitma explained that the annual consumption per capita of chicken has risen to 58 kilos in Lima, and to 28 in the national average.

He also noted that chicken retains the best quality-price ratio for the Peruvian housewife's budget, and has consolidated as the primary source of animal protein in the Peruvian population.

Yeah, really, that number seems low.  I swear that I've seen many Peruvians who eat at least a half kilo of chicken per day!

That's the interesting thing about averages, they can be very helpful but if you don't know the spread then they say nothing at the same time. There are absolutely people who eat a lot more than that, but I'm quite sure this statistic includes every individual including infants, children, eldery etc. If you would include only 18-45 year old men I'm sure the number would be much higher.
