Roland Garros doubles champion Luis Horna headlines Peru's four-man lineup ahead of the Davis Cup tie against Canada.
Horna (currently ranked No.220 on the ATP world tour), Ivan Miranda (552), Mauricio Echazu (568) and Sergio Galdos (1.485) were named to the squad by team captain Américo Venero.
The Peruvian team will face Canada on July 10-12 at 2.600-capacity Hermanos Buse stadium of Club Lawn Tennis de la Exposición in Lima.
In a press conference held Wednesday, Venero said that the tie against the Canadians will be very hard "because they are a very strong team who play very well."
"Horna's participation is very important, but I have hope in what Ivan (Miranda) can do. Both are prepared to give a good performance against Canada," he said.
The Canada Davis Cup team, comprised of doubles star Daniel Nestor, Frederic Niemeyer, Peter Polansky and Bruno Agostinelli, is scheduled to in Lima, Peru, on Friday, July 10.
The Canadian team is captained by former tennis player Martin Laurendeau.
After losing 4-1 to Ecuador in Quito in May, Peru will host Canada in a first round play-off with the losing nation going forward to a relegation play-off against Uruguay.
