Arturo Woodman, The Head of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD), Arturo Woodman will travel to Havana seeking votes to support Peru's request to host the 2015 Pan American Games in Lima.

Woodman will meet with Cuban authorities in order to explain them that Peru is able to host the Pan American Games, since the country is experimenting a process of economic growth.

“Lima offers a strategic location, because it is at sea level and provides a great sport infrastructure,” he said, remarking that this is an advantage that other Latin American cities do not have.

Peru has presented the technical report to host the 2015 Pan American Games at the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO).

Representatives from the PASO choose between Lima, Bogotá, Toronto, and will issue their report in October this year.

What about the poor air quality in Lima? Is the air cleaner in Lima than in Bogota or Toronto [Canada, I assume]?

Should be in Arequipa - much nicer place + would decentralise infrastructure investments.

I think Toronto should win.

If by 2015 nothing serious has been done to reduce the traffic, then I can't see how Lima's infrastructure can bear these games. APEC and ALCUE have already shown how messy things can get. A big capital that hasn't got an Underground or train service doesn't/shouldn't stand a chance. Bogota has an Underground and Toronto an excellent transport system.

Out of those three the safe bet is Toronto.  Too many horrific stories about crime and drug cartels in Colombia and too much chaos and air pollution in Lima.

I live in canada which is a nice country.but as well as Lima and Bogota as cosmopolitan city ,the crime exists everyday, people use guns or other weapons and by the way my car has been stolen from underground parking.......is it safe?......about the air pollution, hmmmmmmmmmmm In canada exists a lot of manufaturing companies, that releases other type of gases that are  polluting the air ,even though they have a nice forest, they will not protect from this gases that are different that carbon dioxide............I was forgetting ,people in canada  smoke  a lot ,are they not polluting the air?.What i am trying to say is that in canada exists ,crime, and pollution too.
I am sure that te elected country  would do a good job.
But at this time i would like Lima Peru to host the Pan American games because is a country rich in History and nowadays is upgrading  the infraestructure to offer better conditions ,while Toronto expets to win to make some improvements LIma already started ,besides the people is very friendly,So all  of you will be welcome.

Viva el Peru!
