Peru's former president Fujimori found guilty and sentenced to 8 years

Former Peru's President was found guilty of the embezzlement charges and has just been sentenced to 7 jail for years and 6 months.

He will also have to pay  S/. 3 million soles (aproximately US $1 million dollars) to Peruvian State.

Fujimori's presidency ended in scandal after secretly recorded videotapes of Montesinos bribing politicians and businessmen with piles of cash began to air on television.

This sentence adds up the 25 year term he's currently serving.

Fujimori, now 71 years old, was already sentenced on April to 25 years prison, for authorizing a secret army hit squad.

Fujimori, an agronomist, is the son of Japanese immigrants.

Carlos Benavides:  Please have compassion for a human being who's already very ill.  Let God judge him....only He knows the truth.  I suspect Montesinos may have been the real Macchiavelan character here. Montesinos and Cheney would get along famously, since they're equally sinister.

I agree with Ceterni and  NoName comments.  It is incredible the lapse in memory of many peruvians.   Mr. Fujimori was one of the best presidents of Peru according to so many countries in the world and true peruvians.  Human rights doesn't exist in war time.  It was the terrorists or the rest of the people in Peru, and we were protected by Fuji.  Very, very sad who made the decision of sending him to jail,  What goes around, comes around.

Did you even bother to read the article?

This is his trial for stealing money, not killing people critical of him without any evidence of ties to terrorist activities.

And he admitted his crime during the trial..and you ignore that?  what a joke.

I think your forgiveness of him is emotional and not logical...it was not your money he stole it appears, nor was it your children who he had gunned down in cold blood.

It was not collateral damage, it was not mistaken intellegence...there never existed any evidence connecting the students in colima or the people, inlcuding the 9-year-old child at the picnic were connected in any way shape or form to Shining Path nor any other terrorist activities.

Your ignorant reasoning, if put into practice in every day life, says..

Someone can brutally murder your family because they criticised him, but if he volunteers with orphans and helped children escape a burning fire, then his good deeds wipes away his sins.

Again, i doubt you would toss your own children into a grave as casually as you tossed the children of the grieving mothers of Fujimori/Montesinos.

I will agree with you 100% that he did a great job on shining path, and everyone should be glad they were dealt with as they were....one has NOTHING to do with the other, and  you fail Peru and humanity in claiming they are the same thing.
