Chile's Falabella, one of South America's leading retailers, is planning to invest $350 million in 2009 in Peru, according to its chief executive Juan Benavides.
Reportedly, the company wants to double the size of its investments in Peru by 2012.
“According with President Garcia's announcement, Falabella Group is to invest US $600 millions in our country during the next three or four years," said Benavides, as quoted by
El Comercio and
La Tercera.
Falabella, which has operations in Chile, Peru, Argentina and Colombia, plans to have 340 stores covering 2.4 million square meters in Peru by 2012, doubling what it had in 2007.
