President Alan Garcia said the only way Peruvian soccer get out of ruin, is to convert the clubs into anonymous societies. "It is time now to rescue Peruvian soccer from the abyss," he said.

With such an action, everybody who wants to participate in soccer could buy common stocks. Countries like France do this.

Then he added: "Other countries adopted another alternative, with only the bigs clubs turning into anonymous societies, I don't think anybody could think about intervention from the government, in that case."

Garcia announced his government is going to present a bill to make this idea come true.

"A change in the system will allow (Peruvian) soccer to be revitalized and the clubs to have more cash to bring high level foreign players to help to improve the level (of soccer) in Peru."

"We need to change the system because it's not working and the consequence is to be at the very bottom in South America. Modern soccer requires modern organization," he added.

Limenians saw a true sports fiesta this Sunday morning in Lima streets thanks to the 8th Grand RPP Marathon, bringing together almost 20 thousand young and senior athletes from Peru and other countries as well.

Professional athletes ran along with local show business celebrities and even some politicians.

People from all ages came today and shone with enthusiasm, showing a lot of energy in every step of the route.

The great number of senior runners proved that despite their age, they are still ready for high competition.

People gathering along the route became additional participants, supporting the athletes.

The winners for every category were:

10km Category: Mariano Soto from Huancavelica
21km Category: Waldir Ureta from Junín
Disabled People Category: Elmer Cáceres from Arequipa
Ladies Category: Gladys Tejera from Junín

“Juan Vargas is priceless," says a headline published today at the webpage  violaplanet.com, in an article which requests Fiorentina's President, Pantaleo Corvino,  not to transfer the Peruvian player.

"If a club wants to take off, then it must keep its best players," says violaplanet.com, referring to the case of Brazilian Felipe Melo, sold to Juventus F.C.

"Melo had a great season last year, and was sold because of it, as we could do with Juan Vargas now; but the situation is different. Because the Peruvian is better than the Brazilian, and his role is important not only in the setting of the team's play, but also because he has shown a good partnership with Jovetic,” adds violaplanet.com.

Thiswebpage asks Fiorentina's managers not to sell Vargas, "Only keeping the best base and making some little adjustments we could have a winning team in the future," points out the web page.

Today it was officially announced -in a press conference- the upcoming opening of the National Karate Championship, Young Senior Categories, to be held at Iquitos City on October 31st and November 1st.

This tournament will gather up to 400 sportsman from all over Peru in the Young Senior Category, kata and kumite discipline. According to official the information, the championship is to be held at "Juan Pinasco Villanueva" Colissseum, which can accomodate.

Some of the participants will be Akio Tamashiro, Kata World runner-up; Oscar Sinchi, Kata Young World Champion; and Wendy Chac, Kumite Panamerican Young Champion.

Authorities present at the conference were Ricardo Duarte, National Director of Recreation and Sports Promotion; Yván Vásquez, President of the Regional Government of Loreto; and Mario Ríos, President of Iquitos Karate League.

Peruvian Claudio Pizarro was a key player for his team, Werder Bremen, in the 2-2 draw today, with two goals from the "Andean Bomber".

Pizarro scored the first one through a head butt at 19' and the second one at 63' when he got a ball in the penalty area of the Austrian team, and introduced it with a right-left shoot.

However, Bremen wasn't able to keep his advantage, Emin Sulimani at 73' and Brazilian Schumacher at 87' scored the goals for the home team to equalize the game 2-2.

After this match, Bremen is first in group L with7 points, and Athletic de Bilbao second with 6 after a 2-1 win at home against Portuguese Nacional.

So far this season, Pizarro is the top scorer along Bilbao's Fernando Llorente with 4 goals.

Any European team that wants to negotiate the transfer of Peruvian player Juan Vargas must offer over 20 million euros, said Fiorentina sports director, Pantaleo Corvo; otherwise, the player will continue at the club until 2013, according to Radio Programas del Peru.

"We are very glad that big European clubs pay attention to Vargas' present season. Any club interested in him should present a proposal of more than 20 million Euros," said the director to the web firenzeviola.it

Some Peruvian papers are speculating that not only Real Madrid, but Internazionale and Bayern Munich also are interested in Vargas.

RadioProgramas del Peru (RPP) announced officially that the registrations for the Great RPP Marathon have been extended until October 24th at noon.

The Marathon, which will take place on Sunday, October 25th at 9am, will start the celebrations for the “Gran Semana de Lima” (Lima's Great Week)

Anyone older than 16 can participate. However, athletes between 16 and 17 years old have to present an authorization signed by a parent or legal guardian, with a photocopy of his or her DNI (National Document of Identity).

The registration offices are located at Compu Palace Shopping Center (Arequipa Avenue, 50th Block, Miraflores), in the third floor, from 10am until 8pm. There, the athletes will also receive their official marathon kits (t-shirt, number and electronic chip for control).

"The Andes Bomber" is one of the best paid players in the Bundesliga, along Italian Luca Toni from Bayern Munich.

Claudio Pizarro, "The Andes' Bomber," is one of the best goal scorers at Bundesliga's present season, and needs only 10 more goals to reach Brasilian Giovanne Elber's record (133) as the all-time top scorer in German soccer history.

The list of the best paid soccer players according to Bild is led by Luca Toni, who came to Bayern in 2007 to replace Pizarro; the Italian player receives annually 10 million euros.

Byelorrusian midfielder Aliaksandr Helb from Stuttgart is the second one with 6.4 million euros and Wolfburg's Grafite third with 5 million euros.

Claudio Pizarro is fourth with 4.2 million euros.

Neither Paolo Guerrero nor Jefferson Farfán are included in this list.

Peruvian sportsman Peter López reached the quarterfinals of the Tae Kwon Do tournament in Denmark, and is now heading to next month's Bolivarian games.

His dream of a gold medal didn't come true. Peter López, the greatest hope of Peruvian taekwondo, lost in the quarterfinals to Senegalian Balla Dieye by 6-2 and was eliminated from the 2009 World Championship. He stayed in Copenhagen, finishing among the best eight fighters in the world in the 68 kilograms category.

López had a great performance at the United States and was sure to bring the gold medal for Perú. He reached the quarterfinals after beating Khusrav Giyosov form Tajikistan, by 6-3. In the second round he beat Salvodorean Byron Vásquez by 4-1 and in the third one he beat Afgan Rohulla Nikpai by 8-3.

Now the only Peruvian at the tournament is Cristhian Aliaga who will compete tomorrow in the 54kg category. On Thursday, teammate Julissa Diez Canseco was eliminated in first round in the 49kg. category.

Peter López is coming back to Lima on Monday to train for the Bolivarian Games. "My next goal is the 2012 Olympic Games," he said to El Comercio.

The captain of Peruvian national team said the next coach could be Juan Reynoso, Víctor Rivera or Roberto Mosquera.

Nolberto Solano said gooodbye to Peruvian coach, José “Chemo” del Solar, and he gave his opinion on the new coach for Peru's National Team.

"The new coach should be Peruvian, and could be either Reynoso, Rivera or Mosquera. Reynoso is close to being the winner; Rivera has his own merits, being champion twice with San Martin and Mosquera is doing well and could give the national team some fresh air."

"Ñol" told the press that his cycle with Peru is over. "Chemo asked me to play a couple of games next November, but I told him 'no more.' "

Solano also said that he feels clear after leaving the national team, but he regrets he never went to a World Cup.

About the possibility of being a coach someday, he expressed his wish to work for the national team; but he thinks it's difficult to qualify for 2014 because there is no solid base for the team.
