These new generation of TV sets can receive Video on Demand services through an Internet connection, which is the first step leading to run Web TV applications.

“At first, customers will be able to download certain formats from the web, but will not be able to browse it,” clarified Ugarte.

Peru: Magaly Solier will return to Manchay after the Oscar gala

Andina

Peru's singer/actress Magaly Solier promised to go back to Manchay, a poor shanty town outside of Lima where the movie The Milk of Sorrow was filmed, after her participation in the Oscar Awards ceremony in the United States.

“After the Oscar ceremony, win or loss, I will definitely go back to Manchay,” said the artist.

Manchay is one of the many pueblo jóvenes (shanty towns) that sprang up on the outskirts of Lima when Sendero Luminoso (Shining Path) drove Quechu-speaking natives from their mountain homes. Llosa wanted to film there because the name "Manchay" is related to fear.

The screening in Manchay was doubly meaningful. Some 3,000 of the 40,000 local residents took part in the film.

The shantytown was built on this dusty, stony land during the 1980-2000 civil war by indigenous people fleeing the country's Andean highlands, which were the epicentre of the fighting between the Maoist Sendero Luminoso guerrillas and government forces.

During a press conference, the main character in Claudia Llosa’s movie, which competes in the Best Foreign Language Film category in the Oscar’s Awards, commented that she is expecting her visa to be approved so she can attend the awards ceremony
