About 15,000 Peruvian and foreign tourists are expected to visit this summer the white sand and warm water beaches of Tumbes in northern Peru, local authorities said Sunday.
Emilio Mendoza, head of the regional office for trade and tourism or Dircetur, stated that most tourists come from the capital Lima and neighboring Ecuador.
“Ecuador has a well-visited beach known as Montañitas, but there are people who visit us to enjoy the tranquility and relaxed atmosphere,” Mendoza told Andina news agency.
In addition to the pleasant atmosphere of Tumbes, the regular beach goers are also keen to taste the local seafood dishes, such as cebiche and sudado de mero, during their one or two day stay, Mendoza added.
